Heading into September I was confident and excited for what was supposed to be the final hoo-rah of the season: The Bear Chase 50K. Coming off the Pikes Peak Double I was happily surprised with my body’s recovery and speedy bounce-back. After an 18-miler at Bear Creek Lake Park on 9/4 and a 20-miler on 9/13 I was ready to taper and toe the line at what I was hoping to be an all-out effort at a 50K PR. Unfortunately, sometimes life gets in the way, and a few days before the race I came down with a nasty cold and had to pull out. C’est la vie. You live and you learn and you accept the fact that some things in life are not meant to be.
Not being able to race the 50K was definitely a heart breaker, but September certainly wasn’t a bust, here’s a little recap in photos:
I don’t have any other races on the books for 2015, which means I’ll probably cherry pick a few for fun and think about what I’d like to aim for in 2016. For now, it’s busy busy busy at work with a multitude of travel, in addition to a new puppy at home (who we’ve nicknamed “the tornado.” Happy Fall!!
